Tag Master is a Chrome extension designed for debugging and auditing Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and related marketing technologies. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

Data Collection

Tag Master does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to external servers. Specifically:

• No Analytics Tracking: Tag Master does not track your browsing history or website usage
• No User Accounts: No registration, login, or user accounts required
• No External Servers: All data processing happens locally in your browser
• No Third-Party Sharing: Zero data is shared with third parties
• No Cookies Set: Tag Master does not set any tracking cookies (it only reads existing cookies for debugging display)

Local Data Storage

Tag Master stores the following data locally on your device only:

• User Preferences: Theme settings (dark/light), font scale, filter preferences
• Recent GTM IDs: List of recently used GTM container IDs for quick access
• Debug Logs: DataLayer events and network requests captured during your debugging sessions

This data:

• Never leaves your device
• Is stored using Chrome's local storage API
• Can be cleared by uninstalling the extension or clearing browser data
• Is not accessible to websites or other extensions

Permissions Explained

Tag Master requests several Chrome permissions to function. Here's why each one is needed:

storage & unlimitedStorage

Saves your preferences and debugging session data locally on your device. Unlimited storage ensures complete debugging sessions are preserved on high-traffic websites.

tabs & activeTab

Identifies which browser tab you're debugging to display relevant analytics data for that specific tab.

scripting

Injects GTM containers for testing and accesses the dataLayer object for monitoring tag behavior.

sidePanel

Displays the debugging dashboard interface as a Chrome side panel.

cookies

Reads Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _gid, _gcl_aw) for display in the debugging interface. Can create test cookies only when you explicitly use the "Test Google Ads Click" feature.

webRequest & webNavigation

Intercepts Google Analytics and GTM network requests to decode parameters, validate implementations, and monitor page navigation events.

host permissions (<all_urls>)

Required to debug analytics on any website you visit, as Tag Master is a universal debugging tool for professionals working across multiple client sites, staging environments, and local development servers.

Data Security

Since no data is transmitted outside your browser, there is no risk of data breaches, interception, or unauthorized access to your debugging sessions. All processing happens entirely locally on your device.

Children's Privacy

Tag Master is intended for professional use by digital marketers, developers, and analytics professionals. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13.

Third-Party Services

Tag Master does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, or advertising networks. The extension operates in complete isolation on your device.

Changes to Privacy Policy

We may update this policy as the extension evolves. Updates will be posted at this URL with a new "Last Updated" date. Continued use of Tag Master after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

• Clear all local data by uninstalling the extension
• Disable specific features in the extension settings
• View exactly what data is stored using Chrome DevTools → Application → Storage
• Export your debugging logs as JSON/CSV before clearing
